Mallorca: Long Shadows and Miró
Acting like a true German, I visited the island of Mallorca in late autumn. But of course, you would not find me chilling at the “Ballermann” beach. I was there just to watch the sea and discover the area a bit. I did not like the city of Palma itself, it has beautiful houses but for me, it was just an overkill of noises and people. I was longing for peace and nature because I was going through a lot of changes at my workplace and really needed some vacation. I found my silence at Sóller and the Jardines de Alfabia.
The most interesting part was the “Miró Mallorca Fundació” with the studio and exhibition of Joan Miró. From 1956 until his death in 1983 he lived and created there. The museum primarily contains donations from the artist himself from his four studios on Mallorca island. The pieces in the collection primarily include paintings, engravings, graphics, etc. There is also a collection of documents and several of Miró’s sculptures, which can be admired in the gardens.
