The glitch is back
The night was deep, black, and full of stars. The air was cool and crisp on my skin as I walked home. My heart felt like it had been put through a blender with all the thoughts that were going through my head earlier today—the day before yesterday really but time is relative in that sense.
I am empty. I lost everything, but music. Music is not lost. It fills the emptiness in my heart with something other than nothingness. It fills up the gaps where there were once thoughts and ideas and memories that came together to form a sense of being alive and whole again. It walks me through every step of my life, reminding me how happy I have been at different points in time…but it can’t bring any of those moments back to me when they are gone for good because without you by my side, I have no idea how to live anymore without feeling like there is an abyss pulling me down into itself so that I never reach the surface ever again….
The music is not lost. It’s still there, lurking in the corners of my mind, waiting to come alive with every little thing I do. But it can’t be found under the haze of my thoughts and worries. It’s been buried for so long that it feels almost like a faint memory from a distant past life that I once lived but have forgotten about as time has marched forward without me noticing in its wake. Now, all that remains of this old life are swirling mists and murky depths at the bottom of an empty well – nothing more than echoes and vague memories leaking out into the present world when they should stay tucked away in their own place, untouched by anything else..
