The Revival: Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2022 in Leipzig
After two years it has finally happened! Last weekend the creatures of the night returned to paint the city of Leipzig black again. It was more than just a festival, it was the revival of Wave-Gotik-Treffen as we know it, four days of hyper nostalgia. It felt like the past two years of isolation and bad news never happened. It’s about love, meeting friends, and making new ones, it’s all about coming together. No reason to be sad if you couldn’t make it to all the bands you wanted to because that is the WGT. It’s spontaneous fun, ending up somewhere completely different than you were planning for, because going with the flow feels more important than anything else. The connection you feel with your crowd is the most important part. And yes, the music, too. After two years of nothingness, I am humbled and happy that for a brief moment in time, we did it again!
I was lucky enough be able to have another exhibition “Kunst trifft Wave Gotik”, at BeuteltierART Gallery with my latest series “Hope” and fellow artists Susan Illingworth and Holger Much.
As usual, you can find a lot of my pictures online at MDR-Kultur.de/wgt
And just to stick with the tradition, here is my noir selection of some favorites.
